Orpheus Island Resort is not for everyone, and that’s the way they like it. It is a private retreat in Queensland, Australia with limited numbers of guests, that can only be accessed by seaplane and it caters for the wealthy clients who love their privacy and a holiday in superb surroundings with the best food imaginable for every meal. The island can be accessed from Townsville, but is actually located further north off the town of Lucinda. It is a National Park and there are 1300 hectares of surrounding bush land and tropical coastline to explore. Nature lovers and foodies will just love a stay at Orpheus Island. In the bay next to the resort is a research station operated by the James Cook University and you can visit this area and snorkel over the coral. A fringing reef surrounds the island so beachcombing and reef walking are popular pastimes.
The accommodation on Orpheus Island little to be desired. You can choose from a Nautilus Suite or an Orpheus retreat. The tariffs include all meals and the degustation dinner is a feature of the islands attractions. The restaurant is on the beachfront and overlooks the beach and the bay. Guest numbers are limited to 42 so you can always maintain as much privacy as you desire. This resort gives you the opportunity to escape from mainland pressures and there are no TV’s, day trippers or children under 15 allowed. This is one place where you can really escape from your normal world and relax in luxury. The resort is surrounded by magnificent tropical gardens and has all the normal resort facilities you might need like a great swimming pool and quiet lounges. Resort facilities include motorised dinghies, catamarans, canoes, paddle skis and tennis.
